Buddy

Buddy (Hero Dogs Series)

In 1928 Buddy was the first guide dog in America whose handler, Frank Morris, brought him over from England. He continually exceeded expectations to what a guide dog could do surprising not only press and the public but also his owner, Morris. By 1936 about 250 dogs were helping owners in the U.S. and Buddy and Frank had logged 50,000 miles by foot, train, subway, bus, and boat to meet with people and demonstrate the life-changing aspect of having a guide dog. “Buddy delivered to me the divine gift of freedom,” said Frank Morris (1908-1980). Buddy’s legacy and spirit lives on thanks to schools like The Guide Dogs of Texas.
